According to Dale Humburg, a Missouri Wildlife Research Biologist in Columbia , the state supports around a million Snow geese each winter. Humburg also says that, in the last 10 years, a new "hot spot" for Snow geese has developed in Missouri . "The fact that the bootheel is holding almost a quarter million Snows is a relatively new phenomenon," Humburg said. "For decades the northwestern portion of the state was most noted for white geese, but lately the extreme southeast section has not only had large numbers of geese, but high harvest totals as well," added the biologist.
